1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, & Nehemiah
28 DAYS TO READ THE WHOLE BIBLE: PART 6
What I Read
Day 9: 1 Chronicles 10-29 & 2 Chronicles 1-12
Day 10: 2 Chronicles 13-36, Ezra, & Nehemiah
My Impressions
- 1 & 2 Chronicles repeat a lot of what is in 1 & 2 Kings but with additional details.
- 2 Chronicles in particular gives more information about the kings of Judah starting with Solomon and it seems to paint them in a more nuanced light than Kings did.
- There were several examples of kings who started out following God and then turned away. The description of King Rehoboam caught my attention. “And he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.” How can I prepare my heart to seek God?
- God seems delighted to lavishly bless His people when they follow Him.
- From the time that King Solomon builds the temple of God to the time that the temple is destroyed by the Babylonians there appears to not be a single year where the people worship God as He commanded with the annual feasts and sacrifices.
