Detox Symptoms are Subsiding
28 DAYS OF NO SUGAR & NO CAFFEINE: PART 3
Today is day 3 of no caffeine and no sugar and it was a great day! The first two days, in addition to the headache, I had really sore leg muscles. The aching feeling was similar to the flu and it made it difficult to sleep at night. When I woke up this morning it was mostly gone.
I suspect I may be in ketosis because I’ve been a lot more thirsty and my appetite has definitely reduced. I’m used to snacking throughout my work day and today I didn’t eat lunch until 3pm and then barely ate dinner.
I also had more energy in the late afternoon than I usually do. Normally when I pick my son up from daycare I’m feeling pretty exhausted. Today we played around the house and while I was yawning, my body didn’t have that heavy, tired feeling I’ve gotten used to.
Another common symptom of detox from caffeine and sugar is brain fog and I’ve been feeling that. Today was my first day back at work after the long weekend and it was difficult to concentrate.
As I go through these difficult symptoms to eventually reach a better state of health and energy, God is teaching me. I’m learning that sometimes pain and being uncomfortable are necessary pre-cursors to arriving at a better place.
As I continue to learn to trust Jesus I pray that I will remember this lesson and joyful accept whatever circumstances God has in store for me, because I know that He works all things for my good and His glory.
